Over the last few months, we have been able to count on the support of hundreds of volunteer collectors with our all-day foodbank collections.. For the Christmas collection it was estimated that almost 400 people took part in a 14 hour collection outside Aldi, Tesco and Waitrose in Lewes Town.

For the next collection, on Valentine’s Day, we have taken the advice of Lewes Foundry Health Care who are both public health professionals and ‘do a shift’ on the food bank collections so know how we run them.

They have listed off a whole series of complicated precautions we could take but the conclusion was that even after all this we might still provoke a negative reaction given the severity of the current situation. We have no wish to do that.

At the same time the needs of the food banks are ever-increasing.

We are therefore launching a financial appeal with the theme of ‘Share the Lewes Love’. The aim is to match the size of our Christmas collection, 7002 food and household items, with £7002.

Can you publicise? To family, friends and neighbours, workmates and contacts. Via twitter, Facebook, Instagram and email? Share the link to this page, with you spreading the word we can reach tens, hundreds, thousands or even thousands of people.

Can you help? This is primarily a virtual collection unlike previous we won’t have shifts of collectors all day outside the supermarkets. All we need is a small team of shoppers and drivers, individuals, or pairs if they are in the same household bubble ( all dressed up for Valentine’s too!).  To volunteer VISIT

Thanks in Advance for sharing the Lewes Love!
